CEFR Assessment Test
To register at Cyrenaica Academy, students must complete a 50-minute assessment test. This test, available via the CEFR website, evaluates English proficiency levels aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), essential for university admissions, visa applications, and job market competitiveness. pre-A1: This level indicates a very basic understanding of English. Scores on the Global Scale of English range from 0 to 20.
A1 Beginner: At this stage, individuals have basic comprehension skills. The Global Scale of English scores fall between 21 and 30, while the Cambridge English Scale ranges from 100 to 119.
A2 Elementary: This level signifies elementary proficiency. Scores on the Global Scale of English range from 31 to 40, corresponding to Cambridge English Scale scores of 120 to 139.
B1 Intermediate: Individuals at this level possess intermediate skills. Score ranges on the Global Scale of English extend from 41 to 50, equivalent to Cambridge English Scale scores of 140 to 159. Additionally, TOEFL iBT scores range from 42 to 71, and IELTS scores range from 4.0 to 5.0.
B2 Upper Intermediate: Proficiency at this level is considered upper intermediate. The Global Scale of English scores range from 51 to 60, aligning with Cambridge English Scale scores of 160 to 179. TOEFL iBT scores range from 72 to 94, while IELTS scores fall between 5.5 and 6.0.
C1 Advanced: Individuals at this level possess advanced proficiency. Scores on the Global Scale of English range from 61 to 70, equivalent to Cambridge English Scale scores of 180 to 199. TOEFL iBT scores extend from 95 to 120, and IELTS scores range from 6.5 to 7.5.
C2 Proficient: This level represents a high level of proficiency. Scores on the Global Scale of English range from 71 to 100, corresponding to Cambridge English Scale scores of 200 to 230. IELTS scores range from 8.0 to 9.0.
